How does the design process work?
1. You send me an enquiry form with a rough idea of what you’re looking for.
2. We set up an initial chat to discuss ideas, feasibility, budget, and deadline.
3. Once a deposit has been paid, I create a design or several options and send you a quote along with a contract and terms and conditions.
4. When everything is signed off, I will begin construction.
5. If you’re local, we’ll arrange the fitting(s) – usually between 1 and 3.
6. Upon final payment, the item is handed over to you.
How much do custom costumes typically cost?
Prices can vary depending on the complexity, materials, embellishments, and so on. We’re happy to discuss your budget during our initial chat to find a solution that’s affordable for you. For example:
Adding embellishments like lace or rhinestones usually costs around £15 per hour, plus the price of materials. A few hours might be enough to decorate a small item.
Accessories tend to have set prices, such as £32.50 for a shimmy belt.
Custom items might be personalised versions of something I’ve made before, tailored to your specifications. A rough price range would be between £50 and £200, but the final cost depends on exactly what you’re after.
Bespoke pieces are made entirely from scratch to your measurements and can take quite a few hours to complete. Prices generally start at £100 and upwards.
What is your turnaround time?
Most custom builds take 4-10 weeks depending on complexity and my schedule but rush orders may be possible for an additional fee. I might be able to fit in simple alterations in between larger projects so it’s always worth asking.
Do you work from inspiration photos?
Yes — inspiration is very welcome. I want to hear what you love, what doesn’t appeal to you, and how you’d like the item to function. Just so you know, I don’t copy other designers’ work; I create original designs that capture the vibe you love, all while respecting artistic IP.
Do you work with all body types and genders?
Absolutely. There is no judgement – each body is individual and I design for all shapes and sizes, including plus-size performers, trans performers, drag artists, and anyone who wants to feel incredible on stage.
What measurements do you need?
I’ll send over a measurement guide that explains which dimensions I require, such as bust, waist, hips, and torso length. There might also be some specialised measurements needed for specific items.
To secure your booking, a non‑refundable deposit is required. This covers design time, materials, and reserving your place in my schedule. The remaining balance must be paid in full before the costume is shipped or collected.
Because every piece is custom‑made, all sales are final. If you choose to cancel after work has begun, you are still responsible for the full cost of the project, as materials and labour will already have been invested.
